We are pleased to see that the housing market is looking strong as we move into 2020,
According to Halifax data, house prices rose by 1.7% in December, pushing the annual increase to 4%.
The Guardian states that this increase can be attributed to a number of factors, including high levels of employment, strong wage rises, low inflation, low interest rates and, at the end of the year a sharp decline in the number of properties for sale, meaning that the demand for homes outstripped supply.
While ONS figures are yet to reflect the results from Halifax, the data is promising in what is often considered an uncertain market.
